Continually finding something new on Holhudhoo Island

While walking along the beach at sunset yesterday, the little hermit crabs suddenly caught my attention.

This little fellow was making a valient effort to climb up, what must have seemed like to the crab, a mountain of broken corral.

This red hermit crab was doing a great job of just blending into its surroundings....

Here I come..... ready or not!

Let me out of here!

I've got my eye on you.....

Strange..... but true!

Okay.... so here I am for two months, on this absolutely beautiful tropical island in the middle of the Indian Ocean......

I am surrounded by hundreds, if not thousands of kilometers of the most exquisitely beautiful blue turquois  water you can ever imagine!

And do you know what?  I don't even like to swim!  Weird huh.......

The Maldivian children's art of making a sand ball

Well, you see it's like this.  First you put some wet sand into an old coconut shell.  You know... half a shell.  Then..

You get your hand around the top of the sand ball.... and gently pull upward....

You pat it together with both of your hands, and now you're ready to ...... well, throw it at someone!

Look out Mr. T..... you're well within my throwing range....

Elephant Question of the Day!

Where do elephants swim in the Maldives?

Wherever they want to!

Are there elephants in the Maldives?

Well... I found a huge ancient stone carved elephant in Peru in 2010....

So stay tuned and I'll let you know if I find one in the Maldives too!
